Hi everyone. The valves on our 2000 E320 4-matic station wagon have been ticking at idle, and each month they get a little louder. Has anyone else had this experience? We have about 110,000 miles on the car, and are wondering if we should expect an upcoming complete valve rebuild. Does anyone have experience with the cost of a valve job, or of doing it themselves?

Are you sure its the valves and not the EGR purge valve? That valve gets loud sometimes and can sound like a valve tick. Its on the drivers side of the engine bay. What kind of oil are you using? I would try a heavier oil before contemplating a valve job
