Loud squeaking noise after I lock my car.

My car makes this loud squeak noise after I lock it. Sounds like its coming from the gas tank area. The noise is similar to the sound plastic makes when u over tighten it. Does anyone know what this could be or if its serious, it's really loud but only lasts like a second.

How can I tell if this is the issue? Whether the car is locked or unlocked i can open the gas tank door so there is no physical lock that I know of.

Wow, you may have just solved your mystry.

Do you use a global setup or selective-------Check your manual and look at the central locking system pages--------does it include a pnumatic gas tank flap locking device like most W210's

Actually you were right I locked it and saw a little silver thing come through the hole to the gas tank to try to lock it but it does not come out far enough to lock the tank. It must be jammed, is there anyway to unjam this?

When you open your flap and really look at the locking tang with hole----bend it in a fashion that allows the locking pin to align with the hole----be careful the tang is flimsy!!

Well the times i have managed to see the locking tang it doesn't even come out far enough to lock the door and other times it doesn't even come out when i lock the car. There is a hard circular plastic cap covering it can i remove that to have a better look inside?

To remove the flap lock actuator you remove the right side trunk liner, then you CAREFULLY remove the small usually gray air line, then you press in on retaining tab and remove the actuator.

However after your explanation I think it is faulty!!

What causes these things to go bad? I notice this noise just started happening after I had to unplug the battery to get into the trunk could this be related? Honestly before the noise i didn't even know the gas tank had a lock so it could have been broken when I got the car.

Why is the sky blue???-----------Why do things brake???

The other good news is that if you didn't know before------why worry about it know---fix it or forget it.

The bad news is that if you don't know the cars options and features---what else is wrong!!

I would have preferred an answer to my question but I guess your condescending sarcasm makes up for it...... also you spelled "now" wrong.

We started to look at your issue yesterday and a couple of hours ago I suggested you look at the AIR ACUATED gas flap lock-------------- and gave you instructions on how to remove air line from the device and disconnect bla bla.

Then thirty minutes ago you ask a question about the lack of voltage (ELECTRICITY) that may have caused the problem plus you are not sure if when you purchased the car the problem existed----surely you kan answer that question or you are knot understanding my material!!
