98 E320 w/39000 original miles....

A friend just called me to let me know that his friend's grandmother is seller her 98 E320 w/ 39,000 original miles...asking price $4K. I haven't seen it yet.
he said there is a slight dent underneath the front ... but not very visible...
Do you guys think that's a good price?
Is there any other way to verify the mileage other than odometer..incase the odometer has been switched?
Thanks in advance for your input and suggestions...
cheers!!!

Overall, W210's are safe and reasonably economical for a luxury car especially if you can do some of the light maintenance yourself. Like oil changes, filter replacements, etc. The asking price seems fair.

1st, THANKS to all that put in their $0.02..
well, I called the dude yesterday for a look and a test drive and give him a downpayment to seal the deal while he's looking for a replacement for his mother in law...He said, a truck ran into the car on Friday...and its totalled.....
.....Hmmmmmmm...
not sure if I buy that though....but, that ends the story...
