E220 differential
Hello all,
It seems(sounds..) like my rear differential has decided to break down any minute, a bit early methinks since it's only been working perfectly for 200k miles...![word](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/werd.gif)
My question is; Does the differential from, let's say, 270 CDI fit? And if yes, would the gear-ratio make any difference?
I am very annoyed by the original differential anyways since it is (IMO) very low geared. When doing 60mph the engine is running very high in the rpm-range, it's doing like 2300-2500 somewhere.
Cheers,
Sondre

To answer your question you need to know 1) your gear ratio, 2) the gear ratio from the donar car and 3) different gear ratios only works if you have a manual transmission. To learn this information quickly you need to have access to EPC to do a "where used search"
If you have an automatic transmission and do not want further troubles then you must stay with the original gear ratio.
