Please help! 1999 E320 4Matic suspension issue

I have a 1999 E320 4Matic with 175,000 miles. The only problem I have ever had with this car is a new alternator. I have recently noticed that the front drivers side tire is feathering and the outer edge is wearing quickly. I can also feel a vibration especially when I accelerate. I brought it to a mechanic and he thinks that it is the lower control arm bushing. He thinks that the bushing had worn and caused the alignment to get thrown off. I don't know tho. The bushing does not look worn and I could see no play in the joint. Some other symptoms are the wheel is visably closer to the front fender to the other. The wheel is also rubbing against the control arm when you make a left turn. I'm worried something is seriously wrong. I love this car and am willing to make the necessary repairs but I want to make Shure I am repairing the right thing. Please help!!

sounds like you need to replace your stabilizer bar bushing and maybe ur stabilizer links. I replaced them and now my wheels are straight and not closer to the fender as in your situation. so check your bushing and links. hopefully this helps

That would be nice. Defiantly cheaper then the control arm. I will defiantly check tommorow. I also forgot to mention that when I go over bumps at low speeds it creeks. It also does this if I break hard.

Success!!

So I brought it to the dealer and they discovered that a mechanic that worked on the car before I owned it did some work on the steering and didn't put the joint in the steering colum on straight. He then realized his mistake and instead of fixing it he adjusted the tie rod ends to compensate! It took 3 hours of labor and an alignment but its all set now
