Question Will 1997 E320 transmission fit 2001 E320?

Will 1997 E320 transmission fit 2001 E320?

If not, from what years will the transmission fit to my 2001 E320? Unless every year has different transmission.

Without a VIN, I would say yes both differentials are 1:307. however the 97 is a 722.605 and the 01 is a 722.607/618

When you get serious make friends with and MB parts guy who with a VIN could make sure!!

The other big issue is the transmission control module(s) and software compatability(thats a guess on my part)much changed between 97 and 01.

Choose wisely!!!!!

If I give both VIN numbers, who would tell me for sure?

I checked both VIN's----I believe the 97 210.055 transmission 722.605(non touch shifter) ser no 02 239952-------will work in the touch shifter 722.618.

Although there are many obvious internal changes(97---01),both conductor plates are the same. The rear end ratios are the same.

The IDEAL replacement would be a 722.618-----In any event make sure that you find someone who has DAS Xentry to assist in the adaption process----I would not rely on spanky and friends to do the job!!

What other years or other models had 722.618? Or only 2001 E320?
