non bose e class

I have an opportunity to purchase an entire bose system for my e class, the system came from the same year e class. I want to install this bose system in my e class that is non bose. There are two pigtails in the trunk, one goes to the cd changer, I assume the other one is for an amp. Is it possible to install the bose amp and speakers in this non bose system e class?

The '97 had the Bose system as an option so I would guess it should be easy to do if you get all the hardware. My '97 E had the standard system which was an Alpine radio. My radio display died so I bought a Becker unit from a '98 E. There is no separate amp on the standard system. I don't know about the Bose arrangement.

I have a 97 e420 with the bose system and a 98 e320 without the bose system. I just took the trunk liner apart in both cars, the 98 e320 without the bose, the non bose doesn't have an amp nor does it have the wiring harness to plug the amp in. So I guess it is not plug and play without wiring harness changes.

I do this job in my car, you need to remove all seats. carpets trunk liners and center console, you need all the wiring harness from the Bose donor car, just remove the entire radio harness from your car (don't remove the antenna wire) and install the new harness with all the speakers, also, you need the Becker black end HU (they sounds a lot better than the alpine audio special HU. Run the + wire to the underseat rear fusebox and install a 15amp fuse (like the oem bose car)

this job worth the time invested mate! the bose system sound pretty cool in this cars

Let me know if you need any help

Excellent, I thought it would be a worse job than that. How long you think it will take? just a guess will be ok. i have a spare Becker radio I can use.

Although I agree with FabioD that the Bose system does sound nice, putting forth all that effort to install 16 y.o. speakers and components is not the best idea. Using the existing wiring harness, you can install an aftermarket head unit, amp and speakers with half the effort of the Bose conversion, and when all said and done will sound at least as good as the Bose system. Most likely better as you are using new components. You can also have any modern component (Bluetooth, iPod or MP3 cables, USB, pop-up screen with Nav and DVD) you wish.
