4300k to phillips ultinon 6000k
I have an 97 e420 sport with factory xenon headlights. I believe the factory xenons are 4100k D2R bulbs, which produce a bright white light. I want to upgrade to a phillips Ultinon 6000k xenon bulb, which is bluer to look at but produces a little less usable light as compared to the factory 4100k. My question is will the phillips 6000k D2R bulb fit directly into my 4100k factory sockets and operate perfectly without any further modification to the car.? Will i get a bulb error on the dash. Thanks

? What's the price of the Phillips bulbs by the way?
I got those for $300 but that's 2 years ago. I haven't check the going prices now but I expect them to be in the $200 range by now!
Yah the Philips 6000K Ultinon (If I remember correctly, the box is blue-ish with words like "Cool Xenons") will fit directly into the factory socket. No modification. No bulb errors. You may need to remove the airbox for the passenger side in order to access inside the light assembly (unless my hands are just too big, lol) and the driver side just bolts right on.

the phillips bulb are now about $150 US or $250 CAN. The website that has is not responding to emails and his voice mail box is full so, he is probably out of biz. Im I correct to assume that any 6000k bulb will fit even if its not from phillips. The idea is perhaps to just get one off ebay if this dude does not exist anymore. Thanks
Whats an airbox?
Airbox is that box that holds the air filter. You will surely see it in the way when you hook up the bulbs!
