Going through my car today I noticed a coaxial cable connection cord and next to it like a telephone plug. its in the big compartment behind the cup holder. What connects to it or whats it for a telephone? thanks in advance

Sounds like you are pre wired for a tele system----put your VIN in EPC and call up the datacard to confirm whether the car was factory wired!!

All facelift models came pre-wired for phone whether the car was ordered with one or not. Not quite sure about your 99, but I suspect it did. Remove the liner in the console box. If pre-wired, you will find the terminals there. This however does not mean you have a functional or usable system as it is outdated and way to expensive to make functional.

how expensive? I think it would be a nice extra having a phone in there. I like that little compartment it makes a good stash spot

After doing some reading, I am not sure it is possible to get a working phone using the existing wiring in your car. Standards changed when E911 became mandatory, so phones that may have worked with your car will not work. Get an aftermarket headunit with Bluetooth. It will play your calls through the speakers like any modern setup, and is an easy install since you don't have the steering wheel buttons to worry about making functional.
