Suspension question......again

i have 18" on my 98 wagon with factory suspension. tires are 235 40 18. And the ride sucks. Every bump sounds like im gonna fall apart. Very tempted to go back to my stocks. would lowering give me a smoother ride?

Lowering will make it worse.
unless you change your suspensions or shocks.

It will be worse lowering it, unless you change shocks AND springs! From what I have experienced if you are looking to lower you car and have somewhat of a smooth ride, you need to go with the H&R Cupkit. I have H&R's and Bilstein shocks but my ride is a bit more aggressive, just the way I like it. Mike (The Doctor) has the cupkit and I rode in his car. Very smooth...

Mmmm, in any case, I found mine still very floaty on stocks after I went from 16 to 17, then to 18". Maybe different with wagons, dunno.

Hey Magic and Jimmy, good to see both of you still got your rides!

I really need to get another car but I just can't part with my baby. Especially with my new front bumper...

Sorry for the off-topic.

Well I can't take the ride any longer.
What exactly do I need to do to get a softer ride? I don't want to spend the money for the H&R kit and it feels worse. Do u guys think if I get new mercedes shocks and springs it will feel better. I mean I do have 150k. Or does that matter? I'm confused ...please help.

I also have aol messenger. Ckckck528

Assuming your shocks came with the car new, how many miles do you have on your car? (sounds like another thread, hee, hee) - maybe the shocks are gone - 18" should give you that bad a ride.

Another possibility is your tires are over inflated. What size tires are you using?

I put new Bilstein HDs on my E420 at 98k with stock suspension and stock 16" wheels. Made a huge difference in everything from ride quality to handling to the "floaty" feeling. Everything is much improved. Rides smoother, flatter acceleration and braking, more controlled cornering.
