Trim packages
It appears this will be my new home. There seems to be a wealth of knowledge and experience here that I hope I may draw upon and perhaps contribute one day.
But I must first ask the obligatory stupid first question. Looking at the headers above listing all the different models of the W210, I fail to see my model! I just purchased my first Mercedes - a 1996 E300 Diesel. It does not have a turbo of course. Apart from my model not appearing here, I have absolutely no idea of the trim level - for it doesn't indicate whether it is a Classic or Elegance. It seems to have features of both.
Is it possible it doesn't have a trim level in this model and year?
Thanks for any assistance on matter.
As for trim it's difficult. What's part of a trim package varies from year to year and many items that are part of a trim package can be ordered separately as an option. A better strategy if you are interested is to get a copy of your 'data card' and examine the SA codes listed when the car was manufactured. Look for the data card in your documentation where it is often attached to a page in the Service Booklet. It shows the chassis and engine/trans numbers as well as a series of 3 digit numbers maybe 10-20. Each represents an option such as leather seats or a color for example.
In my service booklet there is a separate printout detailing all the options of my vehicle. I just assumed all the 210's would fall into one of the three trim categories (leaving aside the fact that one can make individual modifications to those packages). But since my vehicle is not a Classic, Elegance or Avangarde, I just don't know how to further define it apart for the model number. Perhaps those sub-categories came after 1996?
It's not a big deal or anything. Just one of those stupid questions that keep coming back.
Thanks for taking the time all the same!
