Hi all!
Just looking for a litle advice on tires. The ones on our E320 are getting down there which is causing a couple of problems. We live near La Crosse, WI and they don't handle worth a crap in the snow. Also, the tire noise on the highway is absolutely obnoxious!
I'm looking for something that will handle decent in the winter (I put 100 lbs of softner salt in the truck to get better traction and we don't get that much snow compared to other areas) and that will reduce the road noise.
I have a buddy that can get me a set of Toyo Proxes 4 for $70/tire.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!

Quiet tires and good traction in snow are mutually exclusive. Check TireRack site for tires appropriate for your car. An all season tire (non performance) should come closest to what you are looking for. If traction is most important consider steel wheels and snow tires for the winter months.

I live in Waukesha County, WI, and purchased Michelin MXV4 Primacy Tires based on reviews I found on the TIRE RACK website. Unless yours is a 4MATIC, its going to be pretty useless in snow, but the Primacys have been quieter, smoother than anything else I've tried. Without being to dedicated snow tires, they've also been the best tires I've ever had on this car for those rare occasions I take it out in the snow.
