E320 4Matic Instrument Cluster
Hi Folks,
Just wondering if any of you knows the best place to pick up a recondition instrument cluster for an E320 4Matic?
The one in my car (and it's been this way ever since I bought it) has a couple of problems with the right-hand (clock/gear selector indicator) and the left hand temperature display. There are segments missing and while it doesn't really matter to me, I've noticed that some of the other bulbs are going away which (as I understand it) will require the removal of the instrument cluster to replace. So, I am thinking, if it has to come out anyway, why not take care of all the problems at once?
The issues with the LCD segments are either the display part itself or the chip that drives it, which is to say some electronic components (and not simply light bulbs) need replacement.
Some time ago, I purchased a reconditioned environmental controller panel and it's been working fine ever since, so I am wanting to go the same way with the instrument cluster, if I can.
Thanks in advance for your comments!!
Happy New Year!
Michael

Don't make the mistake of trying to repair your IC---there are many scams out here pro porting to have a fix.
Regrettably the only fix is new, in some cases factory reconditioned or used---with used you will have to have loads of faith in your fellow man to make sure the IC fully repeat fully works when you get it not what is advertised as fully working.
The last point and the most important, make sure you know what the part number is for the IC currently installed in your car----only purchase that part number on the used market, unless it's been replaced on EPC, because you won't be able to version code the replacement to your car---then what will you do--just know more about your car than the sellers!!
PS: A good national source is LQK or is it LKQ

Cluster DIY
I'd never done anything like it, but it was quite straight-forward.
The link below helped greatly.

After fixing my instrument cluster (IC) I posted some notes:

Don't be misled...
There was NO soldering required.
Total cost of repair, including parts = ~$40.
