'99 E430 Sport "valve tap" when cold--less when warmed

Hi group,
This car (M113 motor) has a rather loud what sounds like a tappet noise when car is started cold and gradually disappears when warming up.
I would like to know the procedure for replacing the tappets on the left bank once valve cover is removed AND are there any Mercedes specific tools needed?

Thanks!!!

John

Not a simple question and not a simple answer. However if and when confirmed as a valve train related noise and you decide to change/adjust what is necessary, I would spend the 20 bucks for a 24 hour subscription to MB WIS for all the instructions, torque requirements, parts and what if any special tools are required.
