Passenger door clicking
Hi all I have E240 Estate year 2000 I keep hearing a sort of click clacking from the passenger door when the engine is running I assume that there is a problem with central locking, any body have an idea as to what is the likely cause?
would be great info if you can describe with more detail when you hear it, under
what speed, constant noise, only over bumps, left or right turns, etc. otherwise
we'd just be making guesses

wild guess is that your door pin switch is out of adjustment and needs to be
replaced. here in the US the price is about $20.
one way to test is to simply tape a coin on the swinging door....directly
opposite the pin. when the door closes, the coin should press the switch/pin
much more securely and will OPEN the circuit telling the sensors the door is
closed.
you're guessing the door locks are clicking but the fact that you're not seeing
them go up and down surprises me as you've not indicated that the locking
mechanism is malfunctioning
you say that it occurs all the time and i can only assume that the engine has
started. so the sound is heard while stopped, moving slow, moving fast,
and the clicking maintains the same rhythm

Thanks for your advice, but once I really looked into it and not just listened from the drivers seat I could see where the click clonk was coming from.
Somebody at some time had pulled the plastic operating seat lever off and not replaced it correctly once I repositioned this over the actuating pin all was resolved.
