head gasket on a 1998 e320

so my e320 has 147k miles on it and still has the original head gasket. it doesn't drip any oil or overheat but i've heard that that gasket tends to go bad on those cars. how much am I looking at to replace the head gasket or am I fine driving it? I would prefer to change it as I am putting a lot of money into it to make it nice.

thank you very much. I called a shop here in atlanta to see how much they would charge me to get the head gasket replaced and they want 3k dollars for it. so really relieved that I have the model year that doesn't have that problem. but I'm also sure that this certain shop tried to rip me off because 3 k seems way to steep

You won't find a more thorough DIY 320 upper rebuild anywhere.
