Angry Arrrgh...in for repairs...

Okay -- Mom's E430 is only 8 months old, with about 6800 miles on it. Should it already be developing these problems?
  • Alignment slightly off
  • Climate control won't come out of "Econ" mode (or, at least, the light doesn't go off)
  • Fuel level gauge does not go to full after fill-up (only goes to 3/4)

Dropped it off today, let's see how long it takes for them to get it back to me (Mom's out of town this week).

waiting on dealer service can be a pain. my fuel gauge did the same thing. i lived with it awhile and it simply fixed itself. the climate control is a plug-in module. assuming it's in stock it can be replaced in less than 30 minutes. alignments take about 2 hours assuming a rack is available. the dealer i frequent has 17 bays and one rack. techs have to make an alignment appointment. go figure.

Alignment could have been caused by your NY pot holes, not a big problem and if the car is less than a year old its covered by warranty. Fuel gage is a common problem on most MB's and other german cars, probobly will require replacement of the tank sending unit, again not a big deal. The climate control could be that it has a bad control head and needs replacement. This is not a common problem. In econ the A/C will not come on so get it done before summer. Actually a half day in the shop should be enough time to fix everything.

Thanks for your replies. I wasn't so much concerned with how long the repairs would take (in fact, I dropped the car off on Monday and got it back Friday), but more with whether or not an 8-month old car should be developing problems like this. Thank goodness for warranties...
