Ah OK. What set up do you think would compliment these front calipers? Or should I just run with the stock rear.

Nice calipers color, they looks like CLK500/550 calipers isn't..?,

yes, you can keep & use the stock rears, that depend to your choice..

I believe they are CLK550. I am going to either re paint them body color silver or powder coat them silver. Not sure if i want to pop out the pistons or not yet. But doing all that i would feel bad if i did not due the rear at the same time. Would like to have a bigger rotor but don't really need the AMG 2 piston. Is the CLK550 rear set up still a 1 piston but with a bigger rotor?

Silver is nice either,

its better of course if you can do front & rear together,

Yes, CLK550 still using "1" piston, with same 300mm Rotor...

If it is only 300mm which is the same as my stock set up I will just paint my stock rears then.

Yes, agree with you, you can paint the fronts & rears together..,

after you install them, you will definitely love how brake will act...

Thanks again for your help. Now I just need the black MB stickers to get here and have my painter paint them 744 body silver.

The C32/55 caliper upgrade is a good one to do. I never felt the stock fronts were that powerful or adequate.

With some good quality pads (Stoptech street performance), our car has the kind of brakes it should have had from the beginning.

Things about the kit (after 7 years of use)

1. Good rotors are critical. Make sure you use OEM or Zimmerman
2. Good pads are just as critical. Not a fan of ceramics or low dust. I tried Axxis deluxe, Centric Posi-Quiet and both felt like wood and never really had the kind of bite you'd expect from an 'upgrade'
3. Stainless lines look pretty, but don't do anything for performance. I have the stoptech ones, but I honestly couldn't tell the difference.

I've read the new Mercedes pads are low dust and have good initial bite so that may be a good way to go for pads.

I picked up some Stoptech lines. They were only $50 and I have to bleed the system anyways so might as well. The old rubber ones are 13 years old and should be changed anyways due to age.

Just make sure you have a really good set of flare wrenches to loosen that nut on the brake line. Don't want to round it off!

fachance is right I tried to do mine with some cheap wrenches from pep boys and almost rounded it off, ordered one from snap-on and it came off easily. When I did mine I added braided lines and did not see much of a change either. I might do the rears one day, 345 fronts and 330 rears would look good.

if you want to go with bigger rear Rotor, go with SLK55/CLK55, with 330mm rear Rotors, they're direct bolt-on...

ZAYED,,
HiZayed, kifak?
I would like to ask you if the rear calipers from W211 E55 and those from R171 SLK55 AMG are the same?
From the first view i can say that they are the same, but....

Hi,

Yeah, they're 99% same:-

"55K" caliper holes is (12mm), while "Clk55/Slk55" comes with (10mm) caliper holes, this is the only difference between them..

They're not the same for sure,

both got (6-pot), but they're differ in "length/height/thickness/size of pistons & pads/bolt pattern"..

Hi and thanks for your clarification!!
Fron your experience would be the brake system from W171 SLK55 a great upgarde for a W124 cabrio (will get a V8 engine soon) or do you have another suggestion?
Best regards

Hey bro.,

If you need to go with (6-pot/4-pot) brakes..?,,

2004-2006 "W209 Clk55 or R171 Slk55" brakes will be the easiest way..

easiest way but rare
I saw that you did 8-pot/8-pot for W124 )) not bad at all
Bolt on?
front rotors are 2 pieces 360mm, very expensive!!
the rear rotors are 330mm or 340mm, i found both variations, why?
some other suggestions?

Yeah, that was long time ago, when i did that on "W124 E500"..,

it's surely NOT bolt-on,

done many brake set up, on many differ MB models,

*for Fronts:-

i tried (400x38>>390x38>>390x36>>380x36>>370x36>>360x36)

*for Rears:-

tried (390x34>>390x32>>380x34>>380x34>>365x32>>360x28>>3 60x26>>348x26)

depend to your choice, you have to be more specify, which brakes you will go with,,

then can gladly help with an instructions & proper way to do it..

Yeah bro., "Clk55/Clk63/Slk55" brakes are almost 99% bolt-on, just need to cut the protective plate & use the banjo style brake hose,,

"Clk55/Clk63/Slk55" Rear Rotors should be (330mm), there're no (340mm) in MB Rear Rotors..!
