E320 what rims

okay so i have an E320 01 in gold... i don't like the stock rims they come with and i would like to replace them to something bigger .... say 18''.
This wouldn't be a problem if the car was black or silver, because more options that go with the color, but when you have a gold one (which has grown on me (even though it looks like a grandpa's color for a car)) options aren't so easy..
so i am turning to you guys to see who has what kind of suggestions, maybe even pictures? (i couldn't find any online)

Use the wheel configuration from tire rack:

http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_gara...&autoYear=2001

it also depends on your personal taste, if you have aftermarket brakes and want to show them off, you can get a 5 spoke design, which in my opinion really makes the car look sharp combined with 1-2 in drop.

zodiak91 has good advice. exactly what I did with my white wagon amongst many other things, and it is a major head turner. As soon as I can upload pics to this new computer I will share. recommend 19s staggered fitment. Tire rack is spot on with fitting. didnt think mine would fit under there but no problem. ggod luck

zodiac thanks so much this is one of the handiest tools ever!

shawngolfer thanks also for your suggestion but i think 19 is just to big for me lol

ive come down to these two type, the Bremmer but i think the titanium ones would go best with my "desert silver" *cough cough grandpa gold* can i get any insight from anyone? thoughts?

vitovabo. You might be surprised. 19s -if you dont mind low profile tires-fill up the space nicely. I even dropped mine with lowering springs(h&r from tire rack) because with the nice wheels I couldnt stand all the space in the wheel well. My daughter wanted me to get the 18s, but I won, and it was the right choice. Went from grandpa car to stunner with wheels, tint and some secrete sauce here and there. Color is tricky. I started thinking white for my white car, and someone suggested gold because of the tan interior- I went black. Black goes with anything. You want to stay in character- with yourself and the nature of the car and what it could become while meeting your desires. I struggled with it every day for 2 weeks before I narrowed it down to 2 choices. Ended up racier than I wanted but the car stood up to the challenge.

Some good options in Silver or dark grey.

MSW type 14 - look kinda like CLS 55 rims

Sport Edition ST3

Sport Edition ST5

new pc. will try to upload pics today. dependiing on your budget, there are 5, 6, 7, ect, multi-spoke setups/concave wheels from Mach or Lexani in various colors that are appropriate for your car. Not to blingy but pretty business-like. The trick is the size look and fitment combo has to all sync up. I went for Black Advanti racing Denaris, 19 x9.5, 19x 8.5. Fit perfect on low pro tires with slight drop, which was tricky because of the self level. I will be asking about that myself here soon.

I say if youre going to leave it stock height, get some OEM AMG wheels in 18 inches. If youre going to go aftermarket or bigger then drop it...it will look good.

!9's look the best imho but 18's can look great especially when lowered.

This gold 210 is on 18x8.5..18x9.5 Brabus VI. This would be a great choice in either 18 or 19 for your car. Whatever you choose, go with a classy style wheel. You don't want to have regrets with your purchase.

Hope this helps

swapped my old wheels for an lm rep (esm 004 19x8.5 19x9.5 +20mm spacers all around)
Love them and glad with my purchase. For a gold car, i'd say stick with a silver wheels, keep it clean!

these are 19s. tire rack has black helos in 18sx 8 with chrome inserts that are nice if you like the black look. they were my 2nd choice and not as aggressive, little more blingy, but would love to see them on a merc if someone gets them. cheers

by the way -couldnt go any bigger without some tricky mods as the shock mount is 1/4 inch from the top of front tire.

Thanks for that! Lot of hard work.Good observation on the drop. The self level system gave the mechanic who put on the h&r lowering springs a hard time. Had to soften the dampening just to get it that low. ride is actually softer than before the lowering. Did smooth out some bounce but added some roll in hard corners. at least it feels like. Maybe my imagination.Progressive wound springs? Still crank it through canyons. 1/2" or so more would be nice. Projectors. Dont quite match up electrically-old ones had washers. Dim beams. Going to try new bulbs. Show yer ride when you get a chance. Cheers.

Shawngolfer, just out of curiosity, why did you replace the factory HIDs with an aftermarket lamp? Are you still using the OE bulb? If you switched to a bulb that is above 6000K (very blue), you may want to go back to a 4300K (OEM) or a 5000K bulb if you want a blue tinge to the lamp.

245/35x19 front. 275/30x19 rear. The old headlights needed to match the new black grill. Ill look into the bulb issue. Thanks.

Just curious if you went with any rims yet?
I have the same situation, as mine is gold too. I've easily spent 30-40 hrs trying to decide on a rim. If you've got some, please share with some pics, it would be gratefully appreciated!

sadly i haven't, i had to leave the country for the summer and only recently got back to it. BUT.
i have an idea. im thinking of going with brownish-bronze-copper rims for the color and this particular style. http://d3groupinc.com/wp-content/upl...er-std-org.jpg
but i dont want to jump the gun on the idea because i haven't decided what kind of brakes and rotors to go with and how it'll end up looking... prob end up photoshoping it to see; im just, not somebody who does one thing at a time, i like to do it all together

something like that... lowered, rims in that color spectrum and probably that same design but without all of those little white dots that represent "hex-bolts" but i cant decide what to do with the brakes...

heres the original image for reference
