1998 w210 Radio Antenna fix

I've searched all over the internet for fixing this antenna I have the antenna that is concealed I believe either in the rear window or the back bumper. The only information I seem to find is give it a whack to improve the reception. I guess 1 i would like to know an exactly location for the antenna and a way i can get some decent reception. In the best conditions i can find about 10 fm stations and I live in los angeles. I have looked at those boosters which can be installed inline behind the radio and was considering that but like most boosters and concerned it may just be a gimmick. Something along the lines of this http://www.ebay.com/itm/12v-Car-Antenna-Stereo-Radio-FM-Am-inLine-Signal-Amp-Amplifier-Built-in-Booster-/220873703748?pt=US_Radio_Antennas&hash=item336d194144.

There is a module which connects the antennas and the feedline to the radio. In the wagon it is located in the left 'C' pillar. In the sedan I'm not sure. If you can find it, try disconnecting the lines, spray with contact cleaner and reinsert. This often improves reception.

The antenna amplifier is located behind the trim piece drivers side C pillar. The trim is easy to remove, just snaps out. A plastic trim tool is very helpful in removing this trim panel. Follow RichardM98s advice and use some contact cleaner. If this does not help, you may be able to pick one up cheap from a salvage yard.
