96 E320 get P1700 error code

HI

I keep getting the error code P1700 Engine Electronics Code. I changed the Vacuum Modulator Valve since it shifts somewhat abruptly. Before I changed the valve, when cold it took awhile to upshift. Now it shifts ok, just abruptly. What else could be causing this code. Thanks! Hal

Regrettably the P1700 fault tells the tech that the transmission module has sent a fault message to the ECU----with factory diagnostics you do a quick test first to provide all that info.

In your case where your trying to do this on the cheap, you must find someone other than a dealer who can read the MB transmission module and review the fault or live with the issue!! This where the problem starts---all of the jumping johnnies will tell you Oh I can do that!!---remember that ad----"show me the beef" that applies here!!
