which oil filter do I need

I recently bought a 2001 E55 AMG. I want to change the oil and I see paper filters and polyester filters. I the latter just longer lasting or do I need a specific one. Which (non-oem) filter is a good brand?

Do yourself and us a huge favor spend the lousy 13 bucks on a OEM synthetic fiber filter----equally important is that you use motor oil speced for your car---read your manual and read the back of the mfgs bottles

I run a Mobil 1 filter and Mobil 1 full synthetic 0w40 oil. It costs around 90 bucks for an oil change, but its worth it knowing you have quality stuff in it.

myfirstmercedes,

The synthetic fiber filter that Plutoe mentioned is the correct Oil Filter for your car. Due to extended drain intervals on these engines, use of cheap paper filters is not recommended because they will simply not hold up.

We offer the correct Oil Filters for your car from the worlds top manufacturers. You can get to the Oil Filters on our site by clicking HERE, or by clicking on the photo of the Oil Filter below.

We also offer full Oil Service Kits for you car as well. This is the easiest way to a complete oil change as it includes everything you need to do the job. You can get to the Oil Service Kits by clicking HERE, or by clicking on the photo of the Oil Service Kit below.

If there is anything else I can help you out with, feel free to post or send a PM!
