Replacing the Left Rear Tension/Pulling Rod

On a 1999 E500 AWD Station Wagon do you have to drop the rear end of the car to change the left rear suspension tension rod (pulling rod) as there seems to be no room to get at the nut when in place?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I believe you have to raise the wheel carrier until the axle shaft is approx horizontal. If that does not make sense then spend the 20 loonies and use WIS for a day!!
