1999 eclass shifter module interchange
Hello gurus recently picked up my second Mercedes a 99 e320 long story short shifter got jammed into park at highway speeds car didn't go into park thank god but shifter was certainly unhappy car was shifting funny some times stuck in low gear and evan tach behaving erraticly made It home then couldnt get it to park felt like it was jammed up shut car off looked up how to tear down the center counsel got it to shift through out the gears except 1st so try to start car. Nothing won't start and when it says its in park it wasn't had to pull on linkage underneath to actually get it in park That's when i found this site and learned of the shift module my ? Is am I right in assuming thats whats bad and if I get one out of a 99 e430 (online for $45) will it work (whole assembly module included)

(sure makes it more challenging than it needs to when the post is written with

Have someone with the proper MB equipment plug in and see if there are any
trouble codes.

Sorry about the punctuation and grammar I have never been good at it. I just confirmed to myself that the starter was not out by jumping the solenoid. Engine cranked fine but didn't start even with the key on. Was hoping I would be able to get to work on Monday. I ordered the shifter assembly with all control modules from the 99 e430 fingers crossed they work hate to scrap the car less then a wweek after getting it
