1997 E300D stuck in limp mode.

I have a 1997 E300D stuck in limp mode. OBDII codes are P0753, P0758,P0763. I can clear them but trans is still in limp mode and the codes come back. I replaced the connector plate but still the same. Do I need to get these codes cleared by a dealer? What other diagnostic equipment would clear the codes? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

I paid $135 to have the codes cleared by dealer. car still in limp mode and showing code P0730. While replacing connector plate noticed there are plastic caps on two of the solenoids. One was cracked and the other broken. I replaced them with rubber caps - this could be the problem. They don't seem substantial or robust enough to support any significant pressure. Does anyone know what they do and how vital are they? I am having trouble locating new solenoids.

dealer wants $230 per A140-277-00-98 solenoid. I'm not even sure that's the problem. I'm still trying to find out about the broken plastic caps on the solenoid. What do they do? they don't seem tight enough to hold pressure. Could i use a rubber cap? Any tranny experts out there who can help? I tested the solenoid before re-assembly and they all appear to work. Anyone know where I could get just the plastic caps?

The dealer cleared codes p0753, P0758 and P0763. road test showed car still in limp mode but now shows code P0730 - lots of possibilities with this one. tech said the tranny fluid was old and dirty and suggested tranny flush=new filter etc-they had a 'special' for $599. told him I'd just changed it with new filter etc.
The solenoids I'm talking about are the part# a140 277 00 98, there are two, interchangeable, each has a plastic cap on the end away from the connector plate, nothing to do with the mounting to the plate - these were broken and I replaced them with similar rubber caps. It is impossible to mount the other solenoids in the wrong position - they just won't fit. They are the only two of the 6 solenoids that have these caps. They are not very substantial, more like dust caps.
just to cover all bases, what fluid level should show on the trans dipstick when the car is cold and not running? I hope this makes things clearer - thanks for your help.
