Talking OM604.912 EGR-block off?

Hey!

I've been reading up on blocking off the EGR, and so far it seems that the only downside would be the higher NOx output, unless the "seal" breaks (ex. Soda can-cutout etc).

My only issue yet would be that i can't seem to find any block-out kits for the OM604.912, so i guess i'll have to cut one out myself.

The questions i am left with, since i have no experience creating my own "parts", would be:

1. Metal or Aluminium? How thick should it be?
2. Gasket? Is it neccesary?
3. If a solid YES to the question above, what material should i use to create the gasket? Cork? The tube with the liquid gasket-material?

I apologize for my lousy English, but it's not my native language - Norwegian is

Thanks in advance for any replies

I've contacted the local dmv and i should be able to pay a one-time tax to re-register the car with the higher NOx-output.
