Annoying constant dash noise. Please help

Since I have had this car, which isnt long, there is a very annoying and audible whining, hum that seems to be constantly coming from the dashboard. It sounds like it is coming from somewhere near the center right or right side air vents. This happens whether I have heat, A/C, fan etc on OR off so I figure it wouldnt be a bad fan in the vent. Anyone have any experience with this so I can pinpoint and resolve? Its really annoying

There is a fan that draws air over a climate control sensor in the overhead unit that houses the light and sunroof switch. It can make a buzzing or humming noise that seems to be coming from the dash. Easy to check and replace if necessary.

You may have just saved my sanity. If that is the cause is there a way to disable it for the meantime until I can get it repaired/replaced?

This is easy to check. Either put your ear close to the housing, or pop the cover and listen for the noise. If it is the fan you will definitely hear it. If it is the fan, I imagine you can disconnect it, but I am not sure how this will effect the functionality of the automatic climate control.
