Is there any MPG gain/loss in S or W mode?

W or winter mode starts the car from stop in 2nd gear, and changes shift points to get to the higher gears more quickly. It also changes reverse to a slower ratio, but I have never noticed a difference in reverse. Don't really know if driving in W mode changes the MPG. I take a big hit in MPG with winter blend gas. On my cars I keep at my home in Michigan I see a 2-3 MPG reduction from summer gas. Not as big a hit on my Texas cars, but definitely noticeable.

I would say that if there were any gain it would only be a tiny amount at best. Its purpose is reduce the chance of wheel slippage in wintery weather.

Out Of Control!!
You will get better MPG if you keep the cars stored in the winter or take longer trips in the winter, however I doubt any measurable MPG loss or gain could be attributable to transmission mode.
