Question to buy or not to buy..that is the question!

I currently own a 1994 and dont know much about the 96 and up? what are the chronic problems to look out for? also, can i buy an extended warranty "starmark" for the car if i am the second owner and purchasing the car privately? thanks in advance

I don't think too many options are/were available for the '98's, given that the radio is only a single-DIN slot and (I think) you need a double-DIN opening for the navigation unit.

As for extended warranties...I dunno if you can a Starmark warranty, you can always ask at a dealer. There are plenty of aftermarket companies offering extended warranties, but I've never used any of them.

According to a MB service writer that I know, '98's tend to be on the low end as far as problems and headaches go. You should be okay.

Only 12k miles on a '98?!?! Wow...

98 was a change year, and 99 was improved more as far as accessories go. the engine stayed the same. Thea radio is different. The 99 went to fiber optic and the 98 and down are not. The command system uses fiber optiic, so you would have to do a whole lot of retrofit to get it going. Not like a 99 or up with the cables and lines already in place. Read this thread at the bottom. Other than the engine it should describe what the differences were in a little more detail than I gave you.

Steve will take care of you. I've seen him work, WoW he's quick! Btw, I still can't get over the fact that the car has only 12,000 miles! Is that correct???
