External Temperature Sensor
Well, my w210 survived the trip from Jersey to Colorado and back with only minor damage to a chronic problem I've had: the external temperature sensor. (Am I calling this by the right name? You know, the sensor that tells your display what the outside temperature is)
Has anyone else had difficulty with the external temperature sensor, located on the driver's lower fascia, near the fog lamp? I have had to have the sensor replaced no less than 7 times!!! It apparently gets hit by road debris, and the little prong is dislodged and floats around in the lower front fascia, giving off false readings--it was not 80 degrees in Breckenridge, CO.
My buddy with a w124 in 8 years has never had a probem with the sensor, which we think is on the grille in that model.
Any sense of what's up with this sensor?
