e240 w210 fast idle
Hi Guys
Has anyone heard about this one!. I'am the proud owner of 1999 E240 w210. Because of issues relating to the heads I changed the head gaskets, timing chain, chain guides, tensioner etc. The problem is that when you start the car from cold the car idles above 1250rpm and falls to around 800rpm after about 10-15 secs. All this is normal up to now. You can rev up the car with no problem and the car idles ok. However, when engine temperature reaches around 60 deg centigrade even the slightest touch on the accelerator pedal sends the idle speed around 2000rpm where it stays there until I switch the engine off. Upon re-start the engine idles ok albeit a little high. If again the accelerator pedal is depressed the idle soars again to 2000rpm.
Has anyone come up with this problem in the past! What could be causing this high idle problem! Why is the idle ok when cold!. Any answers would be very much appreciated.
