First post...

Hi everyone,
My first post on this nice forum. There is a ton of info that I must read. I didn't know Mercedes had this big of a high performance following. I read of a blown motor, an E320 dragging it's bumpers (very different car) and found the ECU is tagged to the VIN. (DIDN'T know that one)

My first question- I purchased a new 2002 E320 Special Edition in March '02. Well, it has been long enough that I haven't touched anything on the car. I would like to add nice wheels and tires (all season). I like the 2002 E55 wheels in staggered format. What size are they? 17" or 18" I saw a set of 18" AMG wheels that were 18x8 front and 18x9 rear. The tires were 245/40ZR18 front and 275/35ZR18 rear. Will this combo fit under my car? What is the offset of the 2002 E55 wheels?

Also, I have read posts of people putting E55 badging on otherwise stock cars... that is not what is happening here. I don't want to spend the money for the tire/wheel package that I love from RennTech... (Nova MonoBlocs 18") very nice. The E55 set up is my second favorite on the W210 body.

Thanks for all the help. I would love to see wheel pics or hear suggestions on type and sizes. Thanks a lot

Welcome!
I Have The AMG Monoblocks on my w210 wagon 8x9x18s (E55)
with the 245/275 tires looks great rides good! it does fit!
I Would recommend to roll the front fenders...AMG does!
You WILL need to lower it since it will look odd.. way tooo High!
The wheel tire combo is a great start.....Let the Modding begin!

Roll the fender!!! I did this on my.... ... .... brother's 318 Dodge Duster... hee hee. Seriously, roll the fenders on my 16,000 mile E320? What about the paint? The factory does this on the E55? Do you have pics of your car? I guess any pics on the net for a 2002 E55 show me...

Welcome Mr. Gearhead....I'm sure you will get great use, as I think you already have, from MBWorld and its members. It's been a great resource of information and provided many a modification that I have been able to do myself. I too have a low mileage '02 E320...don't be afraid of modification!

Welcome Gearhead.

The E55 standard wheels are 18" in the dimensions you'd mentioned. Just make sure they're ET31 in the back and ET35 (offset) in the front.

It should fit perfectly, except 235's tires in the front would clear the fenders better if you choose to lower - I agree, it will need lowering with the wheel change (the 245 fits on the real AMG's becuz their fenders are already rigged at the factory). With the 235's your steering response will be better whilst visually its not that much different.

It DID originate from here and it only looked stock at the time, it has no exhausts and has a checkered interior But he sold it and most of us here still "love" him.........

try the gallery at benzworld, lots of pics of the W210 with different wheels (there's three different types in mine, inlcuding the AMG's ).

Welcom, as for the fender rolling, sometimes the paint will crack on the edges when just using the fender roller. I would recommend using a heat gun to slightly heat up the fender edges before rolling them to prevent the cracking. Shops usually charge about $10-20 bucks a fender. Good luck on your modding!
