I met a new Beemer owner,proudly displaying his oriental blue 2000 528i.And I must say,it is a beauty,I like the lines,and Im sure Benz and Beemer have those lil chats about what to drop on us next.(IMHO,,benz wins)
After checkin it out,I offered him a chance to critique my car.
After he stopped dribbling,he said "I knew I shoulda went by the Benz dealer 1st".

Couldn't agree more. Went looking for a new car for another member recently. Checked out the new 5-series first, followed by the W211......we both agreed the W211 is a definite winner in most criterion, particularly external and interior styling.
P.S. the guy ended up with a W209 but that's a nice ride too

i own a 1997 540i, which I had bought brand new over 6 years ago. The car is a total piece of crap. Too many problems to list, however, the acceleration on that car is faster than my clk and my friends E430. If i had the choice to buy a new 5 series or the new W211, i would take the W211. my 2 cents.
