Brake Job

I've read in this forum that the brake job on our E's are easy enough to complete, however, I just took my car in to have them done professionally at a shop, not the stealership, because I don't have the time right now. What would you say is a reasonable price to have them done? For the fronts? Front and Rears?

comeon doode....it's WAY over $500 to replace front rotors AND pads AND labor. Have you ever gotten a brake job done yet?

To replace just the front pads w/ labor should run no more than $150-$175.

now if you want to go with the brembo cross rotors as an upgrade, it will end up costing you less. You can pick up a pair of those for around $150.00, and semi-metallic pads will run $50.00, with labor around $100.00........total $300.00.

to replace the front pads and rotors with OEM Benz parts, you are looking at around $1000.00

S, GL, Escalade ESV, my shoes
I bought the PBR Deluxe from fastLane (No dirt, rims still clean after 1 month !!!) for $65, a pair of rotor cost me $110.

My mechanic charged me $40 for labor (Haus of Mercedes, Orange County, CA). I'm told that if I don't replace the rotor, but instead resurface (???) it, then labor is $60 ($20 extra to recondition the brake disc)

Get the PBR Deluxe, it's the best $60 you ever spend for your car.

OEM brake pad cost $40 at FastLane. Go figure. If you're paying more than $250, you're paying tooo tooooo much.

No, i have never in my life ever had to replace any breaks. What do you think. I changed pads last month, i will look at recepts and let you know for specifics. And i always thought that "over $500" ment that it will probably be more than that. Maybe im wrong.

what a comeback! I give you mad props. Here goes......#1, learn how to spell BRAKES before you try to replace them. #2, when you are trying to give a newbie (like yourself) advice, you should try to be more accurate. Yes...you are correct by saying "over $500", however, you would be correct by saying "over $1.00" as well. You see my point? So go check your damn receipts for your BREAKS and BOW DOWN!!!!

If you had more accurate info than you could have just stated it and went on ur way, but No! Anyway, i am at work and i did get upset for a min and decided that it/you are not worth it because it is over the net and there is no point in doing this. but believe me, i would love to punch you in the mouth right about now!

You must have an anger problem or something..... or must have been abused as a child. Whatever it is, I don't want to be the cause of you having a heart attack, so I'll just end now. Have a nice, calm life.

Geez guys...I was just asking. No need to get into a pissing war.

Anyways, here's the story....I got new pads, plus rotors, plus labor for.....$371.00? Did I get jobbed???

I was amazed at the fact that the front rotors were too far gone to resurface. The car is a 2002 with about 30,000 miles on it. My mechanic was sort of amazed also. Is this common on these cars? I know I drive a little fast but I'm not that hard on brakes! Anyways....I'm about $400 bucks lighter.

$371 was very decent

I was at about $460 for pads/rotors at the dealer. If you got OEM, or equivalent, for that I would say it was very fair.

The rotors appear to be of the nature to wear with the pads and in all my reading of the various sites I have almost never heard of anyone 're-surfacing' or 'cutting' them.

Anyway I am very happy with the feel and how the car just drives so much better after the job that I am glad I did not try any short-cuts.

Enjoy the ride.

hi

I´ve changed my brakes few weeks ago.

Installled ATE Powerdisks with Ferodo DS2500 Racing pads.

Total with labor was about 340 euros!

And this setup rocks

dude. I see you didn't pick up that Hook on Phonics CD that was on sale at Amazon.com. Valentine's is coming up. Do you want me to send you a copy of it? If you have a fax machine, I will fax you the estimate that SMYTHE EUROPEAN gave me when I brought my car in to get a quote on front/rear rotors, and front/rear pads. Laugh all you want..... you are the dumb **** that doesn't know **** about your own car. Stop trying to pad your low number of posts by giving these members useless info.

you can say all you want about not being perfect all the time, but when I see all the **** ups on your spelling and gramar EVERY time, I know you are just a dumb ****.

You are probably just driving daddy's car. LOL. GO TO SCHOOL! An education is worth more than a car.
