i am pissed off.... can someone tell me.......
today i took my 98 e320 wagon to get an synthetic oil change. When i returned, the shop told me it cost 100.00 dollars. I said hell no. i never paid 100 dollars for an oil change. the guy also went on to say that its because my car uses 9 quarts of oil. IS THIS TRUE? If so how does it cost 100 dollars. i was so pissed off i tore up the receipt and gave him 80 bucks and told him to kiss my ***. Somebody please tell me something. here is how the receipt read:

9 quarts oil......62.55

something else i cant remember
**** came up to about 101.00

Not that bad since I don't have to get dirty or get rid of the old oil. Quick Lube, Jiffy Lube, etc charge 65 to do my Denali that only takes 6 quarts but I really don't like the idea of a trained monkey touching the MBs.

that sounds just about right. even on my 94 c220, it costs $60 at a independent shop. 1/2 hour @ $60 / hour ($30) and materials, which takes 7 quarts of oil, filter, rings, etc.

Isn't it 8.5 quarts for the W210, not 9?
I think I saw a case of Mobil1 at BJ's for $25. Can't recall how many quarts a case contained.
BTW, my dealer charges almost $200 just for an oil change. nyet!

And if your in the OC area, Autobacs Japan's superstore charges $131 using Redline oil, service bay is flawlessly clean & upstairs you can watch them service your car & enjoy free Starbucks...but don't expect some hardcore Japanese tech, I had a vato working on my car...but it's all good.

i just think its cool that a guy brings his station wagon to a shop thinking they can screw with him. end result is good. i certainly enjoy hearing about offering him 80 and leaving. everything is negotiable in life!!! nice job.

Yup, it's supposed to take almost 9 quarts, just around or a little over 8 1/2 and Mobil1 fully syn. oil can cost a bit unless you go to like Costco where I get mine. You have to also remember that you don't have to change your oil again at 3000 miles like when using regular oil. This should help you see that even $80 bucks isn't too bad.
