I found reference to a power steering filter on Pelican Parts, see pic. MB part number 000-466-21-04.
They say that this applies to my wagon but I don't know, for the life of me, where it may go even if it calls for it. It appears that the filter goes into the top of the power steering pump. Mine has no such accommodation. I am aware, and have replaced, the filter in the fluid tank.
Just curious. I didn't want to have a filter escape me that may need replacement. Thanks in advance!
Don't take anything for granted on MB, but those filters apply to wagons and sit at the bottom of reservoir.
You might need to extract the oil to see it.

Whenever the OP has such pump, or different pump and whole thing might be a mistake - that is something OP can only verify.
