E300 engine block vs E300D engine block

Hi:
Tough technical question where I need help as I have not verified this with my own eyes so I am hoping for an honest technical explanation based on real life experience, not just guess-work.:|
Question is:
Are the E300 Non Turbo and E300D Turbo engine blocks (what we call 'the bottom end') exactly the same? I want to replace my Turbo bottom end with a non-Turbo bottom end and just bolt my Turbo head to it and need to be 100% absolutely positively sure that this will work.
Please reply only if you actually know from having seen the inside of both blocks.
Many Thanks in advance,
labans
