4 Malfunctions!

Oh man, I sure hope it's not as bad as it sounds...

All of a sudden I have malfunctions with ESP, BAS, ABS and a "Defective Lamp". The funny thing is that the car drives and brakes fine. Anyway, I found out my rear brake lights are not working so I'm hoping that all these malfunctions are just as a result of something simple like a burnt out bulb. I will try to get it to the dealer tomorrow morning.

Has anyone else had something like this happen? I sure hope my beast isn't really sick

It's odd, but happens everyonce in awhile. It is normal for this to occur after disconnecting the battery. To fix the BAS and ESP, press the brake, and turn the wheel all the way to the left and then the right. The only way to find out if your light is out would be to turn them on and check. If your BAS and ESP go off again, defnitely go to the dealer.

Ya just gotta love it!

MB has always got these littel EASTER EGGS, or special handshakes that make it worth knowing a tech or mech.

Had it happen also

I had the same malfunctions happen this past winter on my 99 E430 sport. The dealer told me the winter tires/Wheel package was the culprit(I went to 16" down from the 17"stocks for better traction) Once I put the Z rated tires and original rims back on the car, the problem resolved itself. Somthing about the speed sensors being tripped. Don't know if that was a totally accurate explaination, but thats what they told me. Are you using the original tires/wheels?

I took it the dealer this morning, it seems that the problem is caused by a defective brake pedal switch and apparently it is a known intermittent problem. Unfortunately, the dealer does not have right part in stock so I have to wait until Wednesday to get it fixed.

I love my beast but I hate problems like this

Thanks for all the nifty little insights!
