Transmission shifting delay
I am seeking the advice of you W210 experts and long term owners…
I have had my 1997 E420 for about 8 months and have noticeda delay in shifting from 1st to 2nd on a more frequent basis.About once a week for the past 3-4 weeks, I will gradually accelerate from astop sign and the car will seem to miss the shift to 2nd, then at ahigher RPM shift and seem to attempt to over correct the missed shift by racingoff.
The previous owner mentioned a type of transmission conditionerthat a mechanic recommended him, and I presume he used to treat this issue. I am wondering what others have done to cure,rather than treat this issue. Is thiscommon? My car has just under 140K miles.

Frankly - with the 722.6 transmission - to "save the day" so to speak - and frankly to save your transmission you need to consider proper tranny service - in this case means properly replacing the old fluid with "correct fluid" - using proper procedure - replacing the tranny filter as well - and also replacing the "tranny adapter plug" with genuine MB/MOPAR plug only (no off-brand/no-brand) - and pulling and cleaning the Transmission Control Module in the engine compartment.
You can do a forum search on these exact subjects - proper fresh/correct fluid - fresh adapter plug - clean TCM board - thats what needs to be done to forstall a major transmission failure.
