Wink Definitive aftermarket head unit thread.

Right, so I have an up coming radio upgrade in my Mercedes. I have a JVC mech less head unit (no cd) I'm doing away with the Becker audio 30 head unit and CD changer. The vehicle is equipped with the Bose amp, but in the same token one of the rear speakers is blown (rattle at high bass levels)

To physically install the head unit will I need an install kit? Or can I use the cage that comes with the unit?

To replace that rear speaker, (I'd do the pair) does having the Bose system complicate things? Or can I just replace the speakers and be done?

I do know (from doing searches) that I will need a line level adapter for the amp connections. Part # ??? (Metra)

Are there devices available that will allow me to retain steering wheel functionality? (not critical)

Has anyone got the Metra part number for the Volkswagen wiring harness adapter and antenna adapters?

I won't be ordering anything online.

Thanks in advance!

Here's a screen cap of what the Metra website gives me for the E430

Beyond this, the website is vague.

Wiring Harness: 70-1786
Antenna Adapter: 40-VW10
Steering Wheel Interface: ASWC-1
European Radio Removal Keys: 86-9001

No dash kit required, just use the mount sleeve included with your new head unit.

A gaggle of MB's
To "drive" the Bose amp you need a head unit with 3V or 3V+ pre-amp output.

Keep the beat !

Depending on how many RCA outputs your JVC headunit has, 2, 4, or 6 you may not need a line output converter. What's the model number of your headunit?

Got all
I need to do this now. Later will be the ASWC-1 unit. Which wires on the harness are required? Can+ and/or Can- ?
