W210 Need Cabin Trunk Release Switch
Love My 2000 MB E430 4matic. The cabin trunk release switch is broken badly.
1. Is that going to be a dealer item?
2. How do you R&R once I find one? Most switches are pretty easy to remove, but just asking?
Thanks in advance.

-Order replacement from the dealer or online. Not that expensive.
-Remove shift lever knob. Raise decorative plate. Disconnect wiring harness. Press two tabs to release trunk switch. Press new switch into place. Connect wiring harness. Press decorative plate into place. Install shift lever knob.
Replacing the switch should take you no more than five minutes start to finish.

Thanks B... you just made my day.
Ohhhh now the better news... I just hung up with my very pleasant MB dealership parts manager, who informed me that the switch is only available with the complete console panel for $548. He was nice and sympathetic, agreeing a alternate option is what we both would /will try.
It's not like I have to fix it today, so if anyone has a suggestion for a newbie, please advise.

My bad. Different switch; I was thinking of the rear sunshade switch. I looked at the photos of mine and the trunk switch is part of the entire window/mirror/trunk switch micro-controller assembly. I paid $380 for mine.
Part number: 210-821-39-51 7C45 Central console switch assy The last 6 characters will change depending upon the year/version.
Used ones on Ebay are running $88 to $109.
