The dust filters (there are two filter elements) are located behind the glovebox. Remove the screws (the bottom ones are under an oval rubber plug), pop out the light and disconnect, and pull out the glovebox. It takes a good, strong pull. You do not have to remove the striker for the latch, but I do so the screws aren't sticking up. You do not need to remove the rubber bumpers that the door closes against. I'm not sure why the box has to be so hard to pull out, but it is. Just be careful, apply a good deal of force and it will pop out. The access door to the filter elements is visible then. The following website is helpful:

Just a few more details. There are 4 screws total, two on the floor of the glovebox and two on the top of the glovebox, on either side of the light (not the ones with the rubber surround piece). What I do to get the glovebox out is first pop the light out, then take a screwdriver or something with good leverage, insert it into the light opening, and pry the top of the glovebox downwards a little bit, so that the retaining tabs of the glovebox can clear the dash. To get the filters out, push the white sliding retainer upwards and remove the cover. You don't have to take the latch striker off.

Thumbs up Real easy and thank you!!!

The glove box came out real easy, and the filters were changed very simply. Thanks for all the help. GLad I bought some in bulk from one of the MB suppliers online. A lot cheaper than the dealer. Definitely a snap to change.

Here is where I bough them.

http://www.thepartsbin.com/

They include free ground UPS if you order more than $50.00 from them at once. I ordered two sets of pollen filters, and three oil filters with the o-rings from them. The parts are made by Mann of Germany.
http://www.mann-hummel.com/

Anyway, nice quality and nice instructions.
The pollen filters were $29 or $27 a set, and the oil filter kits with O-rings were $7 and change a piece. I ordered two pollen kits and three Oil kits, and they shipped them for free. Not a bad deal, and they are located in NJ. The filters were not listed on their lookup web-site so I called and they found them and had them in stock. Will definitely order from them again for stock MB parts before I go to the dealer, unless I absolutely have to have the part today.
Hope this helps many of you!

$90??? My local dealer retails the set for about $37 and discounts them to me at about $23. The charcoal filters ARE expensive at $200 or so retail and $140 or so discounted. I've used benzbin for some 240D hard parts and they did not send OEM when I specifically requested such. My advice is to get to know your local parts dept and treat the relationship as a business relationship. I've done this for thirty-five years, on both coasts and when they get to know me I always end up getting wholsale prices which mail order and online guys can almost never beat.

It's possible they were quoting me $90 for the pollen filter w/installation....? I dunno, i'll call back and check again. They can't be that far off the average.
