Climate control LCD panel display

I just bought a 99 E320 4matic and the passenger side temp read out is starting to malfunction. In other words, not all the numbers are fully visible. Unit appears to still be functioning with the exception of the display. Does the entire module need to be replaced? Any idea on cost?

You can pick up a climate control module for $100 or so on ebay or check at a salvage yard. The module slides out just like the radio with the same removal keys. There are just 2 plugs to reconnect and it slides back in.
