How many miles secondary air injector to be ready ?

Hi guys, I bought a W210 E55 3 weeks ago and the car had computer reset before I bought it. I went to Smog check and shows Air injector not ready.
My mechanic told me the only way is drive the car so the computer will adapt... Already drove 300 miles still not ready. How many miles takes ?

Thanks !

The car had transmission rebuilt before selling me and had it reset. There is no light or malfunction. Only code is Air injector not ready.

Lets take a step backwards------from a cold start, like in the morning, can you hear the secondary air injection pump come on-----yes or no?

The pump runs as designed and there are no faults----follow you mechanics advice and or take the car back to him and ask for further inspection!

Let's be constructive - it's possible that you haven't reached "Ready State" ... please read thru this thread to see if it's helpful...

What mr. fabulous fails to understand is the OP stated that his computer was reset and if his mechanic did a good job in the erase of the faults he also erased the monitors.

He also advised that there are no faults. He also advised is pump actuates on a cold start--as designed----what's the issue----- it's like his mechanic stated--he needs more drive cycles and long ones!!

I did total 410 miles already and still shows not ready. Is it possible because of O2 sensor inefficient to cause this ?

I know you are concerned, however if you do not have a CEL, there are no faults in the emission system and the o2sensor is apart of that system----google the CA SMOG test there are thousands of examples with "monitors not ready" and most without faults are made ready with drive cycles.

PS: also are you telling us the complete story---the car is not tuned correct or any other HS you may have added or taken off!!
