Ok so I found this car on Ebay right, but with all the scams I had seen I was sort of weary about contacting the guy but I did, and I asked why he was selling so cheap. It is a 01 E320 Brilliant Silver on Ash. Really good lookin but not heated seats. I want to buy it but still am leary about it. He wrote back:

its a great deal, how many miles??? If your spending that kind of money, though, you might want to go look at it and pick it up in person, also to see its condition, not sure how that protection thing works, but i'd suggest you go see it in person regardless...

That sounds a bit fishy to me because the car is way too cheap! I would ask him for all of his info. (name, address, etc.) and for the VIN on the vehicle. Then I would try contacting Mercedes themselves or whatever type of DMV service they have in Italy and run the VIN to see if the car is legit and to whom it is registered. If all checks out and you feel confident, go for it. I just keep wondering about that "30%" up front, that usually means that their going to take it and run...Good luck.

Major Scam - Stay away;

- Mercedes Benz warranty is not transferable for Euro spec.
car - you bring the car you lose the warranty. (I know I tried)

- Euro spec. cars need a Certificate of Compliance prior to being
cleared at customs. DOT has certain AI (authorized importers) that are registered to do the conversion in the US. NO certificate, no car (I know I tried).

- Unless this was a US spec car delivered in Italy for some reason.

Ask for the VIN and Certificate of Compliance. Any MB dealer (or your insurance agent) can check to see if the car is US spec.
