Depo headlight retrofit question

Hello! I have been lurking around these forums for awhile but just joined today as I have acquired a 2002 E320 last weekend. The first project I have planned is a Depo headlight install with stock mercedes xenon fitted in to the headlight case. I hope to follow the wonderful threads by Ben'z and comments by raymond G- to carry this out, but I have one question. In most of the retrofit threads I've read, the e55 bixenon headlights are always mentioned as the go to for this retrofit project. I don't have e55 headlights, but I do have 2 xenon headlights from a 1999 e320 a friend of mine has. Are the xenons on the e320s the same as the ones on the e55? If not, would I still be able to retrofit these without too many issues? Thanks.

Here are the depos I just purchased, and I can upload pictures of the xenons I have later if need be. https://www.amazon.com/Depo-340-1118.../dp/B004J396DQ

The E55 bixenon unit (also very very similar to a Maxima and possibly even a BMW) had
the huge advantage in that its physical dimensions made it suitable for near drop in (more
like 90% with slight mod) into the Depo. To be more precise, the E55 which had been
referenced in earlier mods are from the w211 E320s, or the w210 2000-2002. I've noted
that there seemed to be E55 replicas sold new on one (I think it was) RetrofitSource.com
but I have no hands-on familiarity with their fitment into a Depo/w210
ack - that part is incorrect. no projectors every made by MB for 00-02. sorry, not sure
what i was thinking of when i typed that

If you use a 1999 E320 HID unit, it would fail as it is a reflector based HID and not a
projector unit and I am presuming your desire is for the projector look, right?

Another decent projector is an RS6 (Audi) but that requires more creative fabrication to fit.
Then there is an epic mod where a forum member had the commitment to fit the huge and
spectacular performer, Acura TL into the Depo. It's not come to my attention that any other
210 owner has repeated this effort.

Well if it isn't the man himself replying to my thread. I am trying to go for the projector look so it looks like I'll give my friend his headlights back. I'll look into prices for the headlights you mentioned and hopefully continue with this project. Thanks so much for clearing things up for me.

i have a pair of RS6 sitting on the project bench but waving whether to continue
with them for my 99 210 or to use one for my ZRX1200. so many projects, so
little time.

Your friends lights from a 99 wont fit on a 2002

I used projectors from a maxima and got upgraded lenses from retrofitsource.

I think that link is just for one side headlight (looks like driver side), NOT a pair.
