My CD changer started going back to CD number one on subsequent engine starts instead of where it left off before the previous engine shutdown. The dealer said it was a problem with the Comand system, and replaced it. Well it didn't fix the problem. any thoughts?

I feel your pain, my brother. My 2000 E430 is now on its THIRD CD changer and IT has gone crazy. Getting ready to have dealer fix it again. My unit has NEVER worked properly since new. Currently IF it plays, it will skip, not play certain tracks, display "No Magazine", etc. Right now, the magazine will not even eject.
Have tried getting help from this forum, but no luck. No one seems to know anything.
The Bose audio system and this changer are nothing but pieces of crap. I expect better in a $57K car. This is my last Benz. I'm done with them. Quality is now below Chevrolet.

Actually MB changer made in Japan. Some models made in China. I bought mine from ebay and forgot to ask where it made when put a bid. I had to disassembly the changer couple times to make it alive. You are absolutely right about Chevrolet, I had it before MB and had no one problem though.

your changer should be a Becker changer, since you own a 2000 e430. They are notorious for having problems. Have you tried unplugging it for a few minutes and then plugging it back in?

Well after 3 1/2 weeks I got my car back from the dealer. They changed the Comand, but that did not help. So I took it back, and this time they changed the CD changer. So far it seems to be working. Since my warranty expires in a month, I also had them fix the side mirror motor, the rear passenger inside door handle, and replace all the wood on the center section (it had lost all the shine and had a white haze for some reason). All in all they probably spent many thousands of dollars! I hope this is the end of the problems. BTW, they also had to repaint one side of the car because it was keyed while at the dealer.

My CD changer would jam, read no magazine, not eject.
The dealer replaced the CD changer, but not the magazine.
Turns out it was a problematic magazine, not the changer itself.

Hi Mike
Sorry to hear that happen to your car. When my CD changer screwed up, since my warranty expired 2 months prior, I went on eBay and bought a new one for $280. Work like a charm since.
How's that E55 tail lights look on your car. Your Avantage taii lights look very nice on mine :-).

Hey Zam, the E55 tail lights look really nice on my silver car. I traded my stock ones in a deal for the E55's.
