Moveover AMG here comes LSE! Who?
Lincoln just introduced the 2003 LSE at the 2002 NY Auto Show. They partnered with McLaren to develp a supercharged V8 with 350Hp and a 6 speed manual tranny. A little too late to join the Tuner party I would say.

The LS main objective is to steal sales from these mid-sized sport sedan with rear drive:
MBZ E-Class
BMW 5-Series
Jaguar S-Type
Audi A6
Lexus GS
It is built on the same Jaguar S-type Chassis.
I think I like the concept of the LS McLaren and would recommend it to anyone wanting to spend $55k and get a high performance mid-size sedan. Jaquar's version will be called the S-TYPE R with a 400bhp supercharged V-8 & 5-speed for about $70k.

errr....who did u think made the s-type? it's actually based on the ford's world modeo platform (not the same one as the us ford modeo). ford owns a whole bunch of european and japanese makes, namely aston martin, jaguar, volvo, mazda...forgot the rest. gm owns a few too...like saab, alfa romeo (both gonna be using gm's world epsilon platform), opel.

steve s,
The X-Type (not the S-Type) is based on the Mondeo Platform with front and All Wheel Drive.
AMGGuy,
Jaguar is not made by Ford. It is owned by Ford. If that were the case then people could say Chrysler's are made by Mercedes-Benz?
Here is a review of the S-Type R with 400bhp from Edmunds:
http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/roadt...9/article.html
Surprise! The S-Type R has a base price of $62,500. Not a bad price!
That Mclaren LSE tops out at $56k with manual tranny. That is two much!

tony swan's review of the european R was published in today's (4/4) detroit free press. left his article with positive impressions about mid-range torque available using the left side of the j-gate. supercharger apparently moves all that weight pretty well. see www.freep.com and search for tony swan or auto reviews.

E55 KEV:
What I meant to say was the Ford is shooting themselves in the foot because, as you noted, they are positioning the LS against not only 5 series, E classes but also S-type since they are in the "same" category so to speak. Of course S type R is a different animal altogether.
