Bulb out problem

Hi everybody.
I have been asking this on various places, but have not found a fix for it.

I have a 1999 E-220 CDI Wagon which have had the taillight lenses changed, so that the white part of the glass is smoke tinted. the problem is that the bulb out light stays on, and I have checked every bulb can imagine, but to no avail. I have also changed the taillight bulbs with new ones.
Is there a way to isolate the nature of this problem?

As far as I can see there is no broblem with the grounding or anything else.

Common problem with the w210's. Check that the housing attached to the light cluster fits flush...i.e. on mine, I found that there was a "bubble"/lump in the plastic bit that screws onto the light assembly...hence a bad contact - light out warning resulted...very annoying. I simply sanded the lumpy bit down and the bulbs haven't been out (or at least the warning hasn't gone on for no reason) 2 yrs since. Good uck.
