Need help! I screwed up
Hello all, I looked through the forums and could not find any answers I am hoping someone here can help. I went to replace the flex discs on my sons 2001 e430 and marked the drive shaft using the tape method. The driveshaft came apart as I was pulling it out from under the car and the piece of tape on the rear section came off. I have no idea the precise point to re-assemble the shaft for proper balance. Are there any marks or indicators or tricks to putting the two pieces back together so the drive shaft is not out of balance. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Unless you can match the rust pattern between pieces, I don't see any alternative to assembling at random and doing road tests at different speeds. If the system is out of balance, at worst, you will hear waaaaaah-waaaaah-waaaaah at some the critical speed. If you do, reassemble the parts with a different angular orientation, and repeat. On the other hand, you may hit it right on the first try; or if your shafts did not have any weights welded on them its a non problem.
